(a)WHAT ARE THE MAJOR VARIABLES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RAPID DEPLETION OF IP ADDRESSES?

Increase in the Demand of Internet Access

The main factor causing the IPv4 address depletion is the limited availability of the design capacity of the Internet framework. Besides this there are a number of other driving factors that have motivated the shortcoming. With each of them, demand in the supply of addresses is increased (Hain, 2012).

The depletion of IP address has caused various problems in both the commercial and private sector. The Internet has been facing continuous progression at an extraordinary rate. This can be observed from the remarkable usage and popularity of the World Wide Web (WWW). It has introduced new and emerging ways of business by providing various opportunities to the business dealers. Customers are now facilitated with the satisfactory services of virtual storefronts. With the increase in business, demand for the access of internet resources has also rapidly increased (Tsirtsis and Srisuresh, 2000).

Internet Scaling Problems

In the struggle of providing uninterrupted and continuous progress, Internet has been experiencing two main scaling problems:

The ultimate collapse of IP version 4 (IPv4) address space

The requirement to route traffic among the rapidly increasing rate of networks that has is based on the internet.

The initial concern is related to the rapid depletion of the IP address space. A 32-bit address is defined by IPv4 which shows the availability of only 232 (4,294,967,296) IPv4 addresses. The growth in internet, results in the exhaustion of these unlimited numbers of IP addresses. This problem referring to the lack of address is caused due to the ineffective allocation of the IP address space (Graziani and Systems, 2012).

Since the internet has started its dynamic progression, the depletion of the IPv4 allocation pool has been considered as a concern.

Computer technology has been showing a rapid growth since the day it was introduced. It is growing that faster that even an average user is not aware with all its functions and operations. With this fact, the complexity of such a problematic situation can be assumed when all the users face same problem simultaneously. This could even result to a big disaster that would not allow any user to log on. The rate of increase in computer users is rapidly rising day by day. The biggest concern of the internet is that which is based on IPv4 is that it has a very low percentage of space remain for the IP addressing allocation (Dobrydney, 2009).

It is expected that every user will be effected due o this problem. Not only individuals, but large companies and organizations also as they totally depend on the internet especially those who technology specialists. In order to solve this issue, it is important to understand the functioning of IP Addresses. It is required to have widespread knowledge of the Internet running out of space, otherwise the outcomes could be very dangerous and the Internet will turn out to be extremely unreliable.
