Factors Influencing Individual's Behavior and Personal Reflection

Introduction

Behavior of an individual represents the perception of a person through which he sees himself and other around him. The perception of an individual is influenced by several factors that transform it during various life stages. Since birth, human beings are observed to engage in continuous development phase. There are several things they encounter during this development stage and these incidents have critical influence on their behavior which ultimately designs their personality. Isolation, socialization, rebellion, happy go lucky, angry, shy and reserved etc are the personality characteristics of different individuals that are associated with the genetic disposition and encountered incidents.

Behavior of an individual is an outcome of different factors that have a direct or indirect influence on its formulation. There are several external factors influencing behavior of an individual due to which he designs a pattern of perception and implies it on himself and others. This paper with use of different research studies and scholarly information will outline diverse factors that have a strong influence on behavior of an individual. Nonetheless, the paper will also depict personal reflection in light of the accumulated information.

Three Factors Enlightened by Research Findings Having Strong Influence on Behavior

Biological Factors

The biological factors represent the heretical characteristics of an individual that are extracted from the genetic composition of parents. These characteristics are acknowledged by an individual since his/her birth and these characteristics have minimal but considerable influence on behavior of an individual. The influence depicted by the biological characteristic on the behavior of an individual depends upon the incidents encountered by an individual during his developmental period. There are certain characteristics such as shy nature, reserved behavior and anger that individual carries along with him since his/her birth. These characteristics of behavior are transferred from parental genes to an individual. Nonetheless, with the passage of time and individual's personal encounter of certain incidents the influence of these characteristics deteriorates or become strong (Ehrlich, Feldman, 206). The biological or parental characteristics are responsible for initial personality formulation process of an individual and the way he/she perceives the world; but, these characteristics do not have lasting impact.

Personal Reflection

According to the analysis of the information, it can be interpreted that the biological characteristics have substantial but short-term influence on the behavior of an individual. This can be further elaborated through the personal reflection as the behavior characteristics (reserved and shy nature) I possessed since my childhood blurred with the passage of time. My reserved and shy nature was one of the characteristic of my behavior that was transformed to me by my parents. My father was a bit active and energetic; but, my mother was shy and reserved. During my childhood, my social interaction and communication with others around me was minimal.

I hardly went out to interact or socialize with my peers. However, as I grew old and my interaction with my peers and other individuals increased, these biological characteristics blurred. Now, I have substantial number of peers in my social circle and the ...
