Abstract

This study deals with the major concerns associated with the factors that influence placement of students, with moderate-severe educational needs, in schools/programs within or outside of their home districts. It is provided that these are the basic concerns associated with the educational system for the disabled students. This study also provides information about the factors which can provide assistance in getting the required outcome from the research conducted for the students with IEP and moderate-severe educational needs. The data for this research was collected from the California Education system from the directors of SELPA.

CHAPTER 1: INTRODUCTION

Education is the major concern all over the world. It is the basic responsibility of State and related organizations to provide positive measures for it. There are a large number of public and private organizations State departments, social workers and educational systems which are working to bring the positive measure to bring improvement in the educational system. This includes introducing various graduate and undergraduate programs, high schools systems and different professional and basic educational programs which are required for the better facilities of these people. There are various educational programs designed to cope with the moderate-severe educational needs of the students. All these depend on the successful placement of students. The placement of students depends on various factors which include age, intelligence level, abilities and disabilities.

Effective student assignment to services and schools is critical to ensure that the educational needs of students with moderate to severe disabilities are met. There are various factors which are responsible for the factors that are responsible for the placement of students in the moderate educational system. It is the basic concern for the educational systems to provide better chances and opportunities for the students for their better education and future. It is not possible for a single person or organization to provide possible solutions to all these educational problems.

There are multiple factors that may be responsible for the placement of students in the special educational system. One would be the basic priority on educational systems that can provide better chances and opportunities for the students for their current and future lives. There are various administrative systems within California public school systems, that include local school districts, as well as consortia of school districts ( i.e. SELPAs and County Offices of Education) that have roles with the California Education Code. This study was an initial attempt to examine the factors that influence these decisions.
