Fairy Tales

They are found in oral and literary form as well. They are classified by Folklorists in different ways. Aarne Thompson classification is the most famous to classify fairytales. But there is no specific school who actually provides the education about the fairy tales.

Aarne Thompson categorizes fairy and folk tales according to their concept and plot. The main elements are selected to decide which tales are grouped together. Fairy tales have supernatural opponents, supernatural or enchanted relatives, supernatural tasks, supernatural power or knowledge, or other stories of the supernatural.

Folktales

Folktales are the stories which are told orally. They are the prose narratives based on following traditional storylines. Children love to hear them. Folktales are further categorized in fairytales, memorates, tall tales, legends of all types, fables and humorous anecdotes. Nobody has ever come to know the name of the original author. In some rare cases, an individual who formed the recent version has been identified.

System of Classification

There is a system for classifying folktales known as Aarne-Thompson classification system. It was firstly developed by Antti-Aarne and then translated and enhanced by Stith Thompson . Overall the tales are divied into many kinds For example, Animal Tales, Realistic Tales, Religious Tales, Fairy Tales etc and each category is further divided into sub dividends.

Little Red Riding Hood

Little Red Riding Hood (LRRH) wanted to visit her ill granny to give her the food so she got cake and lemonade in a basket. Her way was the forest and in her way, she met abig bad wicked wolf, who asks here that where she is proceeding,the actual intention of wolf was to eat her but he was afraid to do that in public so he planned something else and give her the idea to collect the flowers for her granny.

In the mean time, the wolf went to the cottage and swallowed granny in one gulp. Then the wolf got in granny's bed and got himself covered up in blanket. When Little Red Ridding Hood came to granny's cottage, she saw the wolf over there but could not recognize. She asked questions that what happened to your hands why they are so big and what happened to your teeths, why they are even big,then the wolf replied they are big to eat you.

The wolf swallowed Little Red Riding Hood in one gulp and then fell asleep. When the wolf was sleeping, a woodsman came by to granny's cottage. The woodsman cut the wolf open with his ax and out popped Granny and Little Red Ridding Hood and fill the stomach of wolf with heavy stones. When wolf awakens he felt thirsty and when he gets to the well he falls in the well because of his heavy weigth and drown.

Comparison of story with real life

When we look at the story of Red riding hood we can match her situation literally with the real life because children are always very near to their grandparents and if they knows that they are ill they wanted to meet them ...
