While I was growing up, many factors contributed to the formation of the current identification of self that I have right now. Children take the most influence from their very own family structure and the people who had maximum influence on me in this regard are my parents. Family structure plays a vital role when it comes to the shaping of attitude of the children and the formation of the children's behavior (Bennett, 2007).

If the family is closely-knit, with the parents being in close harmony with the rest of the family members such as siblings, then they can turn house into a home and transform it into a heaven for children where they get the best of learning experiences as their age increases and they are taught about the world. I am lucky as my parents are living together and thus I did not have to go through the atrocities faced by children who are raised by foster parents or in foster homes. The father and mother are the most important persons for all children as they are the ones the child looks up to when he is in need of anything and they are the ones who support and console him (Hill, 2011).

My parents not only provided me support and help whenever I needed, they are also the ones who formed expectations with me as I was growing up. These expectations were mostly related to studies as they wanted to see me emerge as a good student. Most importantly, my parents have always expected me to be a good person and exhibit qualities of honesty, being truthful, being respectful and being helpful to others.
