NARVAEZ FORUM

Narvaez Forum in this paper has discussed the cargo security issues in the military sector. It has especially highlighted the cargo theft and damage issues in Afghanistan when delivering to the soldiers and military. It has discussed that the Cargo security have to make sure that all the goods and products that are entering in the country are monitored. Cargo can get into a country through airspace, the ports and the border points around the country. From military standpoint, the paper has identified that cargo security is very important when delivering cargo to the Soldiers in combat. Although the cargo is tracked, all personnel involved are not honest. An example is given that when their equipment entered Afghanistan, it did not arrive the way it was supposed to. A lot of the equipment and personnel equipment was stolen and damaged. They had to submit transportation discrepancy reports in hopes of replacing personnel and military equipment they needed for the deployment.

The paper has suggested that there should be a proper cargo security plan otherwise; it will be also harmful to the personnel involved in the process. According to the experts of the National Association of Private Transport, companies that have implemented measures against cargo theft face three key challenges: the detection, delay and response. Just looking for solutions to these three challenges is that these companies have significant benefits to meet an increase in the incidence of theft. In this sense, the law enforcement authorities in the region will deal with criminal acts such as theft of cargo, but the best solution to the problem requires the involvement of personnel as well. There should be a proper evaluation of the personnel so as to highlight the culprit within them.

All these possible problems can be avoided using proper security measures and control through sensors, seals and other systems specially conceived and designed for it. Without doubt, we should not forget the fact that to adapt these security measures as well as installing access control devices to prevent damage or loss of goods, transportation has a cost. However, it is cost parameters that result in higher quality and benefits, for both, the shipper and the carrier, while avoiding any disputes between them.

It is said in the paper, that Cargo security is a subject that Luke Ritter and the author both agree is very important and ranks as one of the top concerns among transportation. Ronnie McCullough, being a logistics person and having times while down range deployed waiting on critical parts to bring equipment up; truly relies on the items he ...
