The legitimization of sexual practice among women is different from men: women's sexuality must be legitimized through love. In the male sexuality is not necessarily through the application of love. Many men and women begin to realize they cannot achieve the pleasure you both want to understand that sex is an experience shared on an equal footing. (Amato, 2007)

Gender roles play an important role in, perspectives on marital satisfaction family decision-making, and couple interaction as in the story “The Proposal” which is a comic farce written by Anton Chekhov. In this play the main reason behind getting married is given which is not in terms of true love but the materialistic gain. And when people with different role background and gender interacts and collide, it causes a lot of miscommunication and misunderstanding in a marriage. (Rheingold, 2000) Society influences gender roles. Over the past years there is shift in cultural norms in United States which is a dramatic change for both Men and Women.

Survey was conducted on the decision making authority and it was found that there are 46% women who takes the decision while 26 of them said men takes the decision and the rest 31 said that decision are made with mutual understanding. (McDowell, 2009)
