Herpes is defined as any of several viral diseases causing the eruption of small blister like vesicles on the skin or mucous membranes, especially herpes simplex or herpes zoster. Herpes is a very common virus usually caused by periodic outbreaks of the facial and genital region. This infection is incurable but easily transmitted by contact, intercourse, or birth. There are different forms of Herpes, such as Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV-1), and genital herpes (HSV-2). Risk Factors for genital herpes include: early age intercourse, multiple sexual partners, and/or a history of Herpes in the family. (Green 42-144)

HSV-2, genital herpes, obviously occurs around the genital region. This virus is usually active for a few days, and then becomes dormant once again. Outbreaks are very random and unpredictable. These outbreaks appear randomly throughout a infected person's life because they are incurable. People often use antiviral medication to speed the healing of blisters and to relieve pain. Herpes virus hominus Simplex is a mini part of the viridian. Simplex can be classified into five different groups, types 1, 2, 6, 7, and 8. Type 1 infects the mouth. Type 2 affects the genital region. Types 6 and 7 causes an infections while in infancy. Type 8, after many studies has been found to be connected with Kaposi's Sarcoma. (Forward 6-94)
