The leadership style that Peter Vyas exhibited while considering the group's proposal was transformational leadership style. As it is evident from the given case study that he immediately confronted the unit's twin organizational problems of low morale and growing turnover, and in his first year, rebuilt the team by carefully selecting entrepreneurial-minded individuals to fill the vacancies left by turnover in the unit (Bartlett & Beckham, 2010, Pp. 3).

This shows that he had the ability to inspire loyalty and command respect, as well as possessing enthusiasm and a special gift for developing vision when he selected entrepreneurial minded individuals. Furthermore, during the start of his tenure charging them with the responsibility to focus on technologies with the potential to turn the unit around, and this behavior of Vyas reflects his style that he operated by motivating followers to do more than they believed they could.

This has the effect of helping followers transcend their self- interest in favor of team or organizational benefit, or raising the level of a follower's position on Maslow's hierarchy of needs (Bass, 2007).
