Globalization and Innovation

Executive Summary

Apple Inc. is a company, which is formed with the philosophy of continuous innovation. Unlike any other electronic company, Apple has over the years relied on restructuring the entire industry with the introduction of several innovative products (Barker, 2006). Apple has relied on innovation; to set itself apart from any other brand and has managed to form a globally recognized brand. Through this strategy, Apple has been able to achieve unparalleled success in distinct product markets, regardless of the previous growth in the respective market. Innovation has helped Apple to render the rest of the competition and the market dynamics, as a minimal influence on its performance. The case study of Apple has showed that the traditional concept of fierce competition can be avoided, if the company has an outlook to pioneer into innovative ventures. The company had rough initial years, where the management faced numerous challenges, which are common to a startup business (Cameron, 2004, pp.267). Perplexed by the financial dilemmas the company management made a hasty decision of firing Steve Jobs. In order to understand the influence of the company's co- founder; in its success as a multinational giant, the analysis of the impact that Jobs made to the company after returning in 1997 is crucial. A company experiencing it's toughest financial challenges and had lost a considerable amount of its market was given an innovative spirit by Steve Jobs. Steve Jobs was the genius behind Apple's meteoric rise, as he ushered the lack luster management to an era of innovation and strategic decision making. Jobs was able to refocus the Apple management's perspective to the core philosophy of the company (Richmond, 2012). He was able to communicate to the company, that ...
