Abstract

Green supply chain management is one of hot topics in market as well as many top organi sations in world. This study covers corporate social responsibility of three major companies, Green mountain coffee roasters, ADTRAN, as well as IBM. How they are implementing their practices to achieve organisational green sustainability. What are green initiatives under taken by companies? How they contribute natural environment? And what are critical savings of organi sation by implementing green initiative. This study will clearly provide better idea on companies approaches' to wards green management as well as green initiatives implemented in their supply chains. Cost effective methods as well as approaches to wards green supply chain management. And this study ends with clear suggestions to organi sations about their performance increase as well as better ideas to improve their green management.

1. Introduction

 

The idea of green supply chain management was first intended in 20th century. It is an old concept when study merely as the aspect of managing large logistics An awareness of Green Logistics is beginning of century 90 twenty . This topic is worth giving attention because the concerns regarding the environmental impacts of operations carried out by organisations throughout the year, have forced the ecological scientists to give a sound thought on this issue.

Inadequate waste management systems in place, as well as toxic emissions resulting from industrial processes have posed great problems including global weather change, generation of hazardous sewage as well as acid rain. Industries involved in supply chain management have suffered the most and they are now being forced to devise environmental policies in supply chain, for reactive regulatory reasons, for reasons proactive strategic as well as competitive advantage.
