Effective Group Communication

Effective group communication is a situation in which three or more people communicate with one another in such a manner that they categorically transfer the messages. Not all communication that takes place in a group setting. Small-group communication usually involves fewer than a dozen people, extending interpersonal communication into situations where group dynamics become important (Austin & Pinkleton, 2000). For instance, one group of students is planning of a group study, then their interaction in the group is guided by a study plan and it shows various patterns of small group communication. For example, one person in the group may dominate it. They may take turns speaking and let everyone have their say: we could call that many-to-many communication. In the context of my organization, Army Communication, the communication occurs in a group of diverse teams.

Large-group communication refers to the communication that involves dozens to hundreds of audience. The scenario of the communication hampers the overall involvement, and only a few parties are actively part of it. Some instances of large-group communication in Army Communication involve lectures, trainings, theatrical performances.

The organizations should have a formalized structure that guides the people that how the communication flow works. This structured guidance assists the users to effectively utilize these resources. The upward and downward flow of messages should be categorical in an effective group communication. If we workout on these issues, then we can produce efficient outcomes.
