Working in teams has a great deal of benefits that company's desire. Companies see the work of teams as being more productive and beneficial to both the employees, and the company as a whole. Unfortunately, whenever you have a group of people working together as a team, you will eventually have some type of conflict. This purpose of this paper is to examine some of the ways to help manage and resolve team conflicts.

Team work, in today's business world is a common practice. Businesses see the team concept as good one because the outcomes of team projects are usually better than if one person completed the project themselves. Businesses encourage employees to work in teams; team projects have the thoughts, ideas, and creativeness of several people not just the single person. With team projects come people from all different walks of life. Teams consist of people with different life experiences, ideas, skills and work habits. With these differences comes team conflict, if the conflict is not handled properly it can totally consume the team and stop them from reaching their goal. According to Caplan, Epstein, Stern (2008) Conflicts arise in a group or team when people do not agree, or have differing opinions on how to complete a task. Conflicts can also arise when people who work together are just not compatible with each other on a personal level “Conflict has more to do with personal styles than the actual problem” (Free Online Research Papers, 2007). Team conflicts also arise when teammates start pointing fingers, stop communicating, arrive late to meetings, and fail to complete tasks on time.
