Introduction

The group properties are the work groups that are not unorganized mobs. Work groups have properties that shape the behavior of members and make it possible to explain and predict a large portion of individual behavior within the group as well as the performance of the group itself. What are some of these properties? These include roles, norms, status, group size and the degree of group cohesiveness. Thus the following essay is covering all the forms of the group properties.

The following essay is going to discuss the group properties of roles, norms, status, size and cohesiveness along with the examples of personal experience and the past team learning.

Roles

Role is a set of expected patterns (patterns) of behavior which are attributed to the person who occupies a certain position in a particular group of society. People can play several roles; they choose them according to the group they belong to. For example, while in the organization, employees are trying to determine what behavior is expected of them in this company. They learn their job descriptions, indications are constrained by colleagues and superiors are watching the behavior of other employees. The man who “deviates" from the expected role comes into conflict defined. It should be noted that employees of organizations are faced with conflicts often enough. (Robbins, Judge.2009)

Taking the example from my personal life, I play the role of a team member for the group project of my sociology course. I have been assigned some responsibilities and task s to perform that is considered as my role in that team. Similarly, every member in the team plays his role to give the final output that is decided and needed.
