Introduction

Michael Francis O'Connor O'Donovan was an Irish writer and author of famous short stories. O'Connor born in 1903 into a poor Catholic family; he joined the Irish Republican Army (IRA) as a young man but arrested and sent to prison. After his release, he turned away from political struggle and devoted himself to the literature and the Irish language (Pierce, pp. 409). He also wrote poems, novels, plays, and two autobiographies. Almost, all works dealing with Ireland, its people and its problems.
