Habitat Improvements for Wildlife in Rural Areas

Introduction

The Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife and Parks transformed the mandate to "ensure, with a view to sustainable development, conservation and enhancement of wildlife and its habitat.” This mission involves the participation of organizations interested in wildlife and as local and regional stakeholders to develop a greater awareness in over by the middle of some aspects of wildlife management, particularly in for its development and use. Such participation is essential to maintenance or development, the use of wildlife population and, consequently, to social and economic benefits that associated with this resource (Chew, 2008).Regarding the conservation part of the mandate, note that since the late 1970, several discussions conducted with the aim to meet goals and formulate strategies for the conservation of resources across the planet.

This paper intends to lay itself on the on adopting the new methods regarding the habitat improvement for wildlife in rural areas. This work has identified the need to establish new bases in the rural context in order to establish social and economic development and protection of natural environments in relation to the habitat improvement for wildlife in rural areas. In recent years, the world has recognized the needs to formulate bases for the protection of wildlife habitats in rural areas as several international conventions has allowed Wildlife to adopt certain principles and objectives for the conservation of wildlife and habitat. Thus, in the context of this paper we intend to shed light on the topic from different perspectives in order to develop a sound understanding of the subject.

Habitat Restoration

Ecological restoration has been identified to serve the cause of habitat improvement for wildlife in rural areas. As it is defined as the process to accelerate recovery, an ecosystem that has been degraded, with the ultimate goal of which is self-sufficient and able to recover after natural disturbances. Ecological restoration aims to reverse the disturbed ecosystem in order to remain as close as possible to its natural condition and bars human intervention in future. It should be integrated into the environment and be self-sufficient (White, 2007). As there is no need to get identical to the original ecosystem, but a similar one, especially because it is difficult to know the time till when it requires to reverse the system in order to craft it near to its original shape. Thus, it can be used as reference forest area and same type, but is not degraded or tends to be of limited effect.

Some ecosystems are able to recover by themselves, just with elimination of the disturbance causing factor, but in other cases, degradation which has been greater, it is necessary to design strategies to restore it. It is also possible that the ecosystem has been so extremely disturbed that it is not possible to complete restoration. Conservation of those aspects which have been ignored tends to be the vital point in the management of ecosystems. As it is related to the most important causes ...
