Introduction

A hazard can be considered as a main potential for harm. Any condition in which special care is not taken, or any activity that can be harmful is not controlled then it is suspectible that such a situation may cause hazardous situation and as a result of this hazardous situation some sort of injury or illness may occur. In order to avoid injuries and illness it is essential to recognize and address any hazardous situation (Clemens, 1995). According to rules and regulations and laws it is manadatory for an employer to facilitate employees to work in a place that is safe and secure. Moreover, it is also the responsibility of the employers to protect the workers from any sort of injury and illness that may occur as a result of any hazardous situation. In order to rovide a safe and secure working premises to the workers employers should practice and consider various methods of maintaining health and safety concerns (Patrickson, 2001).

In building the image of the company or in the maintenance of the good will of the company on one hand where marketing and financial condition of the company plays an important role on the other hand measures taken by the company to maintain health and safety concerns also play an indispensable part. While evaluating the value of a company people and analysts observe measures taken by the firm to provide a work place that is safe, secure and risk free for the health and well being of the employees. If a company fails to address the issue of providing a safe workplace and it is recognized by the public or analysts then this aspect can ruin the reputation of the organization and the firm may have to face financial loss (Soediono, 2002). In every industry according to the nature of the work government formulates certain rules and regulations to provide a safe and secure workplace to the employees. Organizations should embrace all these rules and regulation set by the government. The human resource department of the organization is usually performs the task of observing the compliance of the organization to the rules and regulation of the government (Goldberg, 1994). It is the responsibility of an organization to accept the responsibility of providing a safe place and remain ethically concerned about it (lin, 2001).

In order to provide a safe and secure workplace to the employees organizations usually conduct the process of hazard analysis or assessment of the possible hazards. In this process, different methods and tools are used to recognize, identify and assess various hazards.
