According to various analysts, the problems of American health care system are very broad and complex. These problems are Low efficiency of the health system, Lack of guidance to prevention, High proportion of non-insured population, Strong growth in health costs for individuals, businesses and government and other misguided incentives.

The system is moving away from the comprehensive to a catastrophic healthcare system without a reason. The prices of the plan are out of the reach of people due to higher monthly premiums, causing millions of people not getting cured. Another serious challenge is the quality of healthcare that is currently being provided is not up to the mark. A lot of experiments and researches have been conducted in order to improve the system, but when it comes to the implementation, these practices are not implemented wisely. Moreover, nurses and other care givers are the main asset of this system, but not many investments have been done to enhance their skills (Wesson & Albert, 2002).

The most serious issue of the healthcare system is the fee-for-service compensation together with the financial non-accountability. It means that everyone who is providing the health to any individual gets paid for services including doctors, laboratories or any medical institute. As a result, the person earns more for providing more products or services. The other concept of financial non-accountability is when third parties such as insurance companies pay for the medical care rather than the person who is getting the medical treatment. This, in turn, results in vigorous growth, in the demand of the medical services which ultimately lowers the quality of the care provided.
