Planning, Implementing and Evaluating Health Promotion Programs - The Walk Earlier to Live Longer Program

1. Introduce one wellness/health promotion program. Introduce and discuss four ways that the program can be beneficial.

The health promotion program that is the subject of this discussion is based on the fundamental healthy habit of taking morning walks (McKenzie, Neiger, & Thackeray, 2012). The program will be called Walk Earlier to Live Longer (WELL), and is based on the understanding that morning walks not only enable individuals to adopt and sustain a healthy lifestyle, but also enable them to keep their lives in order. The benefits of taking morning walks are undeniable and have continued to help innumerable people get through complicated health issues. In the same vein, the WELL program will encourage people to take a break from the partially digitized lives that they live and indulge in the basic and unadulterated pleasure of taking a morning walk (Healey & Zimmerman, 2009). A morning walk can have music, socialization and all the other elements that the general populace of today considers a prerequisite for adequate entertainment. It is expected that the WELL program will be beneficial through the following four aspects:

The program will prove to be beneficial because it will encourage individuals to get their lives into order so that they can sustain their membership in the program (The aspect of membership sustenance will be covered in detail in the following paragraphs).

The program will be beneficial because it will allow people of the community to interact with each other face-to-face instead of the heavily digitized interaction that modern day individuals rely on.

WELL will encourage people to rediscover the benefits of regular physical exercise and the role of health and fitness in a healthy and happy life.

2. Introduce and discuss three methods or resources that can be used to introduce the wellness/health promotion program to the community/groups. How each resource can be effective?

The first method and resource that can be utilized for the purpose of introducing the WELL program is the platform of social networking websites (Fertman & Allensworth, 2010). Social networking websites will allow people in the community to come together in the identification of routes and rendezvous points that they can use to come together. The tools and instruments offered by social networking websites will help people organize their morning walks as part of the WELL initiative. The social networking platform will allow individuals to organize and integrate other secondary activities in the WELL program. Activities such as post-walk breakfast get-togethers, combined yoga practices and the like are just a few examples of the many elements that can be integrated into the WELL program.

The second method that will be used to introduce the local community to the WELL program will be ...
