Homosexuality is Nurture or a Nature Issue

Homosexuality is a Nurture Issue

INTRODUCTION

The contemporary idea of homosexuality originated from the late 19th century, when legal and medical awareness of a strong culture initiated the categorization of sexual practices and desires. It does not denote that homosexual activities which individuals know in the early 21st century are not present ever since very old era but that the type itself is a particularly contemporary development. According to me, the question of the validity of Homosexuality is directly linked to the Nature vs. Nurture debate because if it is a natural thing then it is correct or if it is a Nurture thing then it is unacceptable. Therefore, in this paper we have discussed homosexuality in a holistic context. Moreover, this paper discusses the issue of homosexuality with respect to law and religion.

DISCUSSION

There is an extensive discussion of Nature or Nurture over the matter of homosexuals. Or in other words, Homosexuality arises from nurture or nature. It is the fight that has been extensively examined all over the globe. But scientific research now largely seems to be slanting the argument in support of nature. A major factor that plays a role in sexual orientation is heredity and nature. Twin studies take benefit of the actuality that identical twins have identical genes, whereas the genetic similarity between fraternal twins is, on the average, 50%. (Robert, 2006)

Various biological forms have been extended in order to explain sexual orientation and, specially, homosexuality. The laissez-faire model asserts that biological features shape the brain structure on which experiences engrave sexual orientations, whereas genetic factors constrain the period during which that familiarity can influence an individual's sexual orientation. The direct model characteristics the responsibility for sexual orientation directly to hormones, genes, and other organic issues and their straight effect on the structure of brain that motivate sexual direction. The indirect model hypothesizes that organic features form a person's nature and/or personality, which consecutively shapes the development of sexual orientation; genes can prompt an individual to homosexuality in definite settings. (Wolfe 2005)

Advocates of organic homosexuality theories have asserted backing for their vision from a variety of findings. First, a mixture of states connected to differentiation of sex is considered to maintain the position of biology in deciding sexual direction. Second, reproductive organ systems originators of both sexes are there in the embryos of both female and male (Mary, 2007). While empirical theories of homosexuality include 04 major perspectives. One vision focuses on the significance of family dynamics, theorizing that male homosexuality stems from the power of a strong mother and a remote father (Lyons, 2003). Other experientialists concentrate on the nature of a person's premature sexual practice and hypothesize that through the procedure of operant habituation an early pleasing incident with anyone of the same sex will cause same-sex appeal. This hypothesis has given the foundation for the first-encounter and seduction theories of homosexuality that declare that persons are recruited into a homosexual way ...
