Introduction

Some say our present is the mirror image of our past that it is nothing but a reflection of the past. Past events have always and still continue to shape the present and future of mankind. History is full of many significant events that cast their impact even today on this modern society. The technologically advanced and modern society in which we live today is greatly affected by the event of the past. The Industrial Revolution, Renaissance, French Revolution, American Revolution, the World War I and II, invention of engine and electric bulb, invention of telephone and the advent of computers are very few of the most significant events which affected the modern society in many ways. This paper is aimed at briefly identifying the connection of past events and they ways they affect modern society.

Discussion

In order to improve our understanding the present society or modern society, as it is often referred to, we must first develop our understanding of the past events. It is only through understating the past that we would be able to enhance our knowledge of the present. The modern society owes most of its attributes and characteristics to the significant events of the past. For example, the Industrial Revolution in Europe provided the foundations for the consequent mass development in the region and later in most parts of the world. Similarly, the Renaissance and Enlightenment have completely transformed our perspective regarding the religious practices and values which results in today's modern society where everyone has the liberty to exercise his or her religion as he/she deem right.
