Psychology can be defined as the science which deals with mental processes specially those which affects human behaviors.

Human development can be defined as the procedure of maturing from childhood to adulthood. Human development is a field devoted to comprehending human steadiness and change throughout his or her lifespan. Knowing human development is an important part of the educational process. Human behavior's knowledge for specific age groups allows adequate individual assessment and planning (Berk, 2006).

This paper will highlight the human development theory made by Erik Erikson. Erik Erikson was one of the major contributors who put forward his work regarding human development; he was the one of those contributors to propose that the stages of human development which comprises of humans' entire lives and not just their childhood. He promoted the psychosocial development theory (Coleman, 2000; Erickson, 1963). His theory is being explained by the help of below mentioned chart:

Infancy (Trust - Mistrust): In this stage, the child may develop a feeling of trust or distrust towards the world and other people. Sense of trust or distrust that has been formed in infancy; affect the transition to the next stage of development.

Child being bounced in the air and then getting caught by the parent.

The child initially show some reluctance when he or she is bounced in the air, but after getting caught by the parent twice or thrice the child develops a trust that he will be caught. The child after developing confidence shows signs of happiness.

Early Childhood (Autonomy - Shame & Doubt):

In this stage, the child becomes independent; walks, talks, and does a lot. At this stage, the child begins to develop self-control and independence.
