Introduction

Human services administration is a profession that routinely works with predominant effects and deriving various manifestations of the phenomenon of poverty. Poverty in most countries has grown and spread, why is an urgent social obligation to act vigorously on the causes and effects of the problem. This requires specific forms of social action that is, planned responses from the public and private, which must be responsible, and not just human services administrators but the whole of government officials and NGOs involved in the management and implementation of social policies: as political leaders and target groups to which target such actions.

Discussion

In this report, we will discuss the responsibilities, challenges and accountability of an Administrator working in the Human Services Organization. For the purpose, we conducted an interview with Mr. John, working in the administration department of Michigan Department of Human Services.

Michigan Department of Human Services is an agency which works for children, adults and even families. It provides services to the children, and adults. It operates its programs, and network of over 100 counties. It has its offices all around the State. It is responsible for promoting development and quality of services sector to the people. The Board of Directors of the Agency represents all the actors involved in the structuring of this economic sector. These include producer's services, government, local authorities, professional organizations, social partners, national social security funds, issuers of pre funded, and CESU qualified individuals. The aim of the organization is to provide, social services to the needy people, hence the administrator is responsible to report the board of the organization, who keeps a strict check and balance on the activities and performance of the administrator.

The Michigan Department of Human Services has its administration on the basis of federal temporary assistance for needy families. It provides food and support to all these needy families. It has programs which entirely depend on the food assistance of these people. It accepts all the applications of the health community. It also facilitates the medical and disability assistance. It has stamps for the food, and the state medical services program. It also funds the State of Michigan and the State Emergency Relief Program (Washington, 2008).

The deepening of the current crisis of social problems sets the urgency to address the effects of the organization on the most vulnerable people. Hence, as the administrator of the organization, it is the responsibility of John to take care of all activities and services provided by the organization. It is important to take care of the fact that needy people avail these services, which is a daunting task for the administrator, who have to select individuals who dearly needs such services. This involves taking into account that there is a huge gap between social needs and the resources allocated to their attention. It is a growing challenge to utilize these resources in terms of interests of the poorest groups.
