Ethics of Emerging Technology: New Direction of Ethics Implication of Emerging ICT

CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION

Much has been said about the new information technologies: some people are its most devoted and unconditional admirers, others are painted in the blackest colors, many forget that all change and innovation (whether technological, social, ethical, moral, political, etc) has two faces which come together from the same coin. This dichotomy does not escape the new technologies, the Internet in the forefront, so apart from being a clear progress in the life of man, it raises a number of conflicts that have shaken the alleged root legal, ethical and moral form the basis of today's societies (Grossman, Helpman, 2005, p. 135-159).

Research Problem

The presence of unethical practices related to the emerging new technologies proves to be a major concern and needs to be dealt with in a serious manner to avoid major consequences.

Research Aim

This paper aims to make and suggest an effective approach in order to adress the key issues from the ethical and moral concerns related to the emerfing new technologies.

Research Significance

The significance of this research is based on the fact that it will help us in presenting measures that will help in dealing with the serious issue of unethical practices related to the emeging new technologies.

CHAPTER II: LITERATURE REVIEW

Today, everyone living in this world rejoice's the technological innovations. Marginally ten years ago, the ICT sector started to develop unimaginable to the point that Africa, among all the other continents, was the fastest growing market in the world for mobile phones (Grossman, Helpman, 2005, p. 135-159).

Laptops, smartphones, internet and intranet, broadband connections and other tools provide connectivity and geographical freedom and almost total time users of information technology and communication (ICT). Digital music players, mobile phones, personal digital assistants complementing these tools are omnipresent in our daily practices. Not to mention the social networks that has mobilized increasing attention of younger generations. ICT thus increase one's ability to communicate access information, share ideas, and acquire knowledge but also to contribute to the sharing of data (Oliver, Ron, 2002, p. 148-153).

Yet at the same time, ICTs facilitate the emergence of practices less noble or unhealthy. The scam, pedophilia, pornography, xenophobia, racial discrimination, racism, trafficking and exploitation of human beings are all unlawful acts and practices that constitute the dark side of ICT.
