Introduction

Art has always been a form of expression. There are many ways in which artists can express what they feel, such as paintings, writings and other forms of art. These forms have different ways of expressing themselves and the artist finds great satisfaction in expressing them. This paper will discuss the different images made by artists that depict the brutal activity of child labor. Child labor has been in debate since a long time; however, so solution has been devised as yet. People are doing their best to make sure that they eliminate the brutal activity of child labor; however, there have been a number of cases, in which people have failed to do so. Two images are analyzed in the paper.

The photos were on the periphery of American life as a kind of visual undergrowth, which is sometimes overlooked. Photography is not only influenced the way people see the world, but that they believed. They are pictures that Americans saw on the first page of his newspaper, which forced Americans to form opinions and take appropriate action. Throughout history, photography established itself as being an effective means to improve America, both morally and socially, thus showing that the photo is a form of communication that is as strong as any other form of communication.

Analysis

Hine traveled the country photographing the working conditions of children in all types of industries. He photographed children in coal mines, in the Meatpacking houses, in textile factories, and canneries. He took pictures of children working the streets as shoe Shiners, newsboys and street vendors. In many cases, he tricked his way into factories to take photos, that business leaders do not want to see the public. Hine was careful to document every photograph with precise facts and figures. He believed that he was supposed to be "double-sure that [his] data picture was 100% pure . Do not retouch or fraud of any kind" Thus, in obtaining signatures for his pictures, he interviewed the children on some pretext, and then wrote his notes on his hand hidden in his pocket, to be sure of accuracy.

The first image for which analysis is done is titled as the faces of the lost youth. There are people who are employing children for the sake of employment; hence, are giving rise to child labor. The motive of the employers for employing children is that they get employees at a very cheap rate, but they do not realize the adverse affects of such activity. Child labor is causing a lot of problem for the children themselves, as well as, the economy. People who are involved in employing children are committing a wrong act, which means that the people do not take care of the rule and regulations set by the government.
