Abstract

The aim of this research paper is to discuss the impact of emotional intelligence on transformational leadership: moderated effect of gender. Leadership is a specific type of power that is influencing and mobilizes people with certain personality. Transformational leadership is characterized by the ability to produce substantive changes. Transformational leaders are able to undertake the changes through vision, strategy, and culture of the organization and also promote innovations in products and technologies. Transformational leaders stand out as having a clear vision, gain respect, and trust, provide security, and lead identification and commitment of its employees. They pay attention to each of its employees individually and staff, and give them different responsibilities. They encourage, stimulate, and encourage innovation and creativity of their employees to solve problems and approach strategies. Emotional intelligence is the ability to sense own feelings and the feelings of others, to understand and respect to correctly evaluate the situation. The transformational leader is one who reaches beyond behavior to change the perceptions and beliefs of its employees.

Introduction

Emotionally intelligent leaders encourage the group as a sense of wellbeing which leads them to share ideas, learn from each other, and take group decisions. From a biological perspective, the art of leadership requires adequate combination of intelligence and emotion. There is no doubt about the importance of analytical thinking and conceptual clarity, however, intellectual ability by itself does not make the leader, it must encourage a climate of cooperation and trust that is only possible through the emotional intelligence. EI has four domains which are not else learned skills that provide basic tools for enhancing resonance and accordingly the efficiency of the leader (Meredith, 2008). Studies on gender differences are inconclusive. Some research has found that women are more emotionally intelligent than men, but others have found no difference between the sexes. Emotional intelligence is a predictor of life satisfaction and a healthy psychological adjustment.

The model of transformational leadership goes beyond the usual management style and requires a kind of leader whose enthusiasm is able to mobilize colleagues. They are leaders who do not order or direct others but that inspire them and that, in articulating his vision, feel intellectually and emotionally stimulated (Gosling, 2008). Show a strong belief in her intuition, and encourage others to follow. Transformational leaders foster relationships with subordinates. The leadership of each employee will increase overall productivity and morale to improve personal and professional level.
