Introduction

Scientific and technological progress is an integral and important part of modern life. Even at the dawn of industrialization and mechanization, humanity was faced with conflicting results of the implementation machinery. On the one hand they get rid of people from hard work, and the other - by replacing human-machine, laid-off workers lose their jobs and livelihood. In the past few decades, few researchers and scholars have started to foretell that few of technology consequences even possess harmful and destructive aspects. From the 1970s to the 1980s, the amount of adverse affects has been greater than before and issues have come up to the level of public awareness. Researchers have found out that, amongst various dangers, that the automobiles' exhaust pipes were a main reason for atmosphere pollution along with the resources of the earth like crude oil being utilized beyond their means, the pesticides for example, DDT endangered the food chains, and due to the mineral waste a number of industrial resources had been contaminating the reserves of groundwater. Recently, it has been disputed that the society has been damaged by processes of technological developments that one of the greatest challenges of modern society is finding places to store the large amount of waste produced. Acid rain, air pollution, conservation, ecology, ozone layer fallout are some of the issues caused by technology, which are due to the effect of the incapability for assessing or predicting their potential adverse costs. It is obvious that technological advances allow inalienable progress to the humanity, but we must take into account the negative effects of technology (Nelson, 2001; Lacivita, 2004). This paper discusses the impact of technology on society in a holistic context. Furthermore, the main topic of this paper is the technology of automobile and its impact on the society.

Discussion

The creation of the first major settlements in the Neolithic through agriculture and livestock causes the emergence of the earliest civilized societies. This, together with the metal, makes man cross the threshold of the story. Later, in the early civilizations (Egypt, Mesopotamia, etc.) script was created, and with it, the first sciences (Mathematics, Astronomy, and Geometry) began to develop. Society began to be transformed by technology, because writing allowed the existence of laws. In the Middle Ages in the West suffered a major setback. Science became a cult of the Greek sages. However, it is during this time when a key technological breakthrough was witnessed by the mankind: the invention of printing. In the sixteenth and eighteenth centuries outstanding works of Galileo, Kepler, and especially Newton created a new concept of physics, which contributed further to eliminate blind faith in the tenets of Greek scientists. The seventeenth century is known for important events such as the French Revolution and the independence of the United States. These events occurred under the influence of a new school of ...
