The term in vitro is a term in Latin meaning in glass. It is used because in the first biological experiments that were performed in tissue cultures outside living organisms, from which they came, were carried out in glass containers such as test tubes, test tubes or Petri dishes. Today, the term in vitro refers to any biological procedure that is performed outside the agency that normally would take place, as distinguished from an experiment in vivo where the tissue remains inside the living organism which is normally found. In vitro fertilization (IVF or IVF), also known as test tube baby, is a successful method of assisted reproduction in use since 1978 (Gourounti, Anagnostopoulos & Vaslamatzis, 2011). Has been refined in recent years because of new research and findings. It has been a contentious issue between science, ethics, morality and religion, as to use unnatural methods for the design of life, which has resulted in the rejection of various sectors, especially religious.

According to "Statistics of the American College of Fertility and Reproduction at least 11% of the world population may be infertile (Sullivan, Chapman, Wang & Adamson, 2010) This gives us an idea of the magnitude of the problem. In vitro fertilization is a technology that "consists in uniting egg and sperm in a culture medium to fertilize, when naturally occur cannot do any dysfunction in men or women." After fertilization occurs, the resulting embryo is transferred into the uterus where it will be implemented ".

The probability of success of treatment depends on several factors. Statistics vary from country to country according to the experience you have in using this technology. What is certain is that more and more couples decide to try a pregnancy through IVF (Ebner, Moser, Shebl, Mayer & Tews, 2011). "An estimated 35,000 women in Spain undergo this procedure each year. Stress, increasing maternal age and poor semen quality are some of the causes. Despite the many criticisms that have been, this method has proven very effective against infertility problems facing the population and has become a hope for those couples who long have been unable to conceive a child.

If it is correct or not, whether to apply or not is a matter for each person to decide.
