Introduction

The basic aim of this paper is to explore the limits of our information's and knowledge about the business facts and strategies that has been adopted by the retail leaders in the retail industry, along with the facts of how the strategic planning could be implemented within the strategies of businesses under the retail sectors. The paper is prepared by the help of some internet searches which let us follow the path and exhibit the generic strategies and models which leads towards the competitive edge of the companies. Thos generic models are cost leadership, differentiation, and focus in a lot of the strategic-planning literature. The paper will be focus on the Generic Strategies model, and thus will complete the required instructions that are to identify and describe 3 retail firms.

The term competitive advantage is an edge that the company has in it in order to compete with the competitors. That one edge a company has is the advantage for that company and the threat for other competitors in the industry. The company strives itself to the fullest in order to implement the best possible strategies in order to create maximum competitive advantages to have the maximum strengths. The strategy that the company implement depends on the type of the competition it caters, thus the strategies could be offensive and defensive.
