Introduction

The study is related to article that is “the effect of gun shows on gun related deaths: evidence from California and Texas”. The purpose of the study is to know the reasons of the gun related deaths in the gun shows. It is observed that in the United States various gun shows take place every year. In the view of the gun control campaigners, due to the less regulation in the sales of the gun shows, it is trouble-free for the criminals to get the gun which can increase the crime rate in the society.

In addition to this, the concern with the gun shows is that it can increase the suicide rates in the society. Besides it, in the view of the supporters of the gun shows, the gun shows are inoffensive as the prospective criminals can purchase guns quite easily through the black market.

Research Hypothesis

H1o : It is easier for the potential criminals to get a gun from the gun shows.

H1A : It is not easier for the potential criminals to get a gun from the gun shows.

H2o : Gun shows are the cause of increasing suicide in the society.

H2A : Gun shows are not the cause of increasing suicide in the society.

Variables

The variables that are used in the study are:

Homicides = number of homicides due to gun or non gun

Suicides = number of suicides due to gun or non gun

Week of show = number of homicides and suicides due to gun or non gun at the week of

1st week post show = number of homicides and suicides due to gun or non gun at the 1st week after the show

2 - 3 weeks post show = number of homicides and suicides due to gun or non gun at the 2 to 3 week after ...
