Abstract

Internet has introduced new methodologies for the interaction of customers and companies. Manufacturers can have direct access to their customers today with the help of internet. Retailers are investing in order to increase their market coverage and, sell products to their customers at negligible marginal costs. In past, firms had to deal with different suppliers, can buy different products and equipments from the electronic market. This research proposal presents the idea about internet retailers, channel co-ordination, Internet Channel, supply chain management, e-procurement and electronic commerce related with Internet retailers. This proposal represents recommendations on co-ordination issues especially in the areas of procurement, pricing of fulfillment and distribution.

Introduction

Internet is the tool which is common around the world for multiple purposes. Internet provides lots of facilities including selling and purchasing online. The work of retailers includes all the cost and procurement work and management through the internet. Retailers are doing well in the field of marketing and purchasing. There are also issues in co ordination of these retailers. Supply chain includes all the purchase of goods by the customers and retailers. It is also noted that any new channel can threat present channel relationships through any possible means. This research proposal finds numerous means to interact through channel co-ordination via internet.

Overview of Research

It is noticed that supply chain is consisted of suppliers, manufacturers, retailers and customers who know about the products, money and information regarding products. The coordination is necessary at each stage. The coordination is categorized in three stages as procurement, distribution and pricing. We have discussed and researched at each coordination stage. We have focused on the work that deals with the relationship of supply chain management through internet. We have also discussed the opportunities in order to improve the performance of coordination.

Procurement

Today, all governments are used to of e-procurement in their daily activities. This is because there are many features which are not available in papers based procurement. The benefits include that there may be a continuous ordering system that can link with the present financial management system to the government. There may be continuous reporting of every purchase and settlements with the provision of extensive management. It provides the full access to the auditors to do audits transaction with the individual purchasers. It also provides the facility in proper time period to provide guidance to buyers to the contracted suppliers. It has improved the speed in the documentation of businesses. With the help of E-procurement governments are able to get information of the suppliers within the time. It helps in improvement and re-organizing the projects, thus, giving high productivity.
