Introduction

Conceptual architecture is a term used to describe certain buildings and practices that make use of conceptualism in architecture. Conceptual architecture is characterized by an introduction of ideas or concepts from outside of architecture often as a means of expanding the discipline of architecture. This produces an essentially different kind of building than one produced by the widely held 'architect as a master-builder' model, in which craft and construction are the guiding principles. The finished building as product is less important in conceptual architecture, than the ideas guiding them, ideas represented primarily by texts, diagrams, or art installations.

The intent of conceptual architecture is to direct attention at an appropriate decomposition of the system without delving into the details of interface specification. Key constructs are identified, including significant architectural elements such as components and relationships among them, as well as architectural mechanisms. Architectural mechanisms are designed to address cross-cutting concerns (i.e., those not localized within a single component).

By focusing on key constructs and abstractions rather than a proliferation of technical details, conceptual architecture provides a useful vehicle for communicating the architecture to non-technical audiences, such as management, marketing, and many users. It is also the starting point for Logical Architecture, which elaborates the component specifications and architectural mechanisms to make the architecture precise and actionable.

Architectural elements all need to be considered in the context of local architecture. Local architecture has no monumental purpose; in other words, structures are not built for the purpose of leaving a deliberate trace behind them. Typical construction materials from the region in question are used in local architecture. Therefore, similar buildings can be seen in places which have similar regional conditions and geological structures. The buildings that make up local architecture are built by their owners or local artisans. Generally speaking, local architecture has an anonymous structure. Thus, local architecture is also called "Anonymous Architecture".A folklorist will look at a house within the framework of these criteria: a) The natural environment where it is constructed, b) Functions, c) Equipment, tools and construction materials used, d) Construction technique, e) Common practice and belief in the surrounding area.

Unless there is a major change in economic and social structure, local architecture remains unchanged for many years. Products of local architecture which have not been created under a specific project have specific, identifiable features in seven regions of Anatolia.

The Ministry of Culture's, Research and Development of Local Cultures General Directorate has been carrying out studies in this field. Products of local architecture have been documented with slides, and construction techniques have been archived by examining their functions and determining the degree of traditionality in discussions with local craftsmen. Along with the changing cultural and social structure, a rapid alteration has been observed in local architecture.
