Introduction

Intersectionality describes the overlap of various forms of discrimination in one person. Intersectional discrimination lies, "when influenced by the context and situation. A person due to various interacting personality traits becomes victims of discrimination". Forms of discrimination include things such as racism, sexism. Handicapism or classism does not add up to only one person, but to lead independent experiences of discrimination (Collins, 2000). Thus, a homeless man is walking difficulties may act not only as a homeless person and as a walking difficulties discriminated against, but it can also make the experience as a homeless person with walking difficulties to be discriminated against. A simple example is the presidential election in the United States. It seems logical that black men voting for Barack Obama would be with Hillary Clinton gets more votes from white women. Who would vote for black women or white men? Who represents them best? The new research interest in intersectionality is the intertwining relationships which result from the interaction of various forms of discrimination (Collins, 2000).

Intersectionality is termed the theory sociological proposes and examines how different categories of discrimination, socially and culturally constructed, interact in multiple and often simultaneous levels, thereby contributing to systematic social inequality. Intersectionality suggests that the classical models of oppression within society, such as those based on racism / ethnicity, gender (sexism), religion (religious discrimination), nationality, sexual orientation (homophobia), class (classism), or disability, not act independently of each of the others on the contrary, these forms of oppression interrelate creating a system of oppression that reflects the "intersection" of multiple forms of discrimination (Collins, 2000).

A standard example of application of the theory of intersectionality might be the study of how women experience oppression in various configurations and in varying degrees of intensity. The cultural patterns of oppression not only interrelated, but are united and intersectional influenced by the systems of society. Examples are the classification by race, gender distinction, class and ethnicity. Intersectionality is an important paradigm for the sociological and cultural studies, but there have been many challenges when used to its full potential (Collins, 2000). Difficulties arise because of the many complexities that arise when making multidimensional conceptualization that explain how the socially constructed categories of differentiation interact to create a social hierarchy. For example, the intersectionality claims to know the lives of women in a sexist society is insufficient information to describe their experience, by contrast, is also necessary to know their race, sexual orientation, class, and their social attitude towards each one of these human types (Collins, 2000).
