With the resources, technology and worldwide distribution network required to compete on a global scale, the alliance builds on Chrysler Group's culture of innovation, first established by Walter P. The primary goals of Chrysler Group LLC are to extend the existing Business, enhance the company's core competency and expand the market (Bartlett, 2011). In the following sections we will discuss the operational and strategic objectives of the Chrysler's supply and purchasing department, and also how these strategies are aligned with organizational goals.

Mr. MICHAEL J. CARRIER currently works as a Material Cost Reduction Analyst, Purchasing and Supplier Quality at Chrysler Group LLC, he was appointed in 2009. Mr. MICHAEL is a supply management professional with extensive experience in purchasing, materials management, value analysis / value engineering and program management. Excellent track record of achieving cost reductions through strong negotiation skills, idea generation and analysis of cost structures. Strong team player with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Job Functions and Responsibilities

At Chrysler Group LLC, he is responsible for reviewing and promoting technical cost reduction projects that meet corporate financial requirements. Assist Technical Cost Reduction engineers with obtaining final approval from platform team finance activities for each project and ensure correct credit is received. Interface with Finance, Production Planning, Engineering and Purchasing.

Educational Background

Mr. Michael has completed his graduation in Business Administration from Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI, in 1972. Afterwards, he decided to execute Masters in the same discipline. In 1977, Mr. MICHAEL completed his Masters in Business Administration from the same university, where he did his bachelors. Over the years, he has developed the following skills: Value Analysis, Value Engineering, Materials Management, Facilitation Skills, Negotiation Skills and Program Management skills. He is also proficient in operating Microsoft Office Applications; Word, Excel and PowerPoint; Lotus Notes etc.

Professional Experiences

Mr. Michael started his professional career as a “Production Parts Buyer” for North American Purchasing organization. He worked there from 1977 to 1992. During his time at North American purchasing, he bought a wide variety of production parts including stampings, moulded plastic (interior and exterior), rubber, exhaust, suspension and fasteners. Negotiated a wide range of long term contracts that met materials cost saving objectives.

From 1992 to 2003, he worked as a “Value Engineering Analyst” at Vehicle Systems Engineering. There, he served in a large variety of cost reduction process development and implementation roles in the Vehicle Systems engineering department.
