Introduction

This paper presents an analysis of the implementation strategic planning for Dell. The paper will review the main factors on which Dell operates and how Dell can succeed with the implementation of its strategies in a constantly changing market. The paper attempts to highlight the major areas of leadership-level implementation of the plan including individuals, traditional and virtual teams, department, organization, interorganization and partnership. Furthermore, the paper justifies the leadership style implemented for the strategic planning. It also discusses the change management plan by detailing the implementation phase of the plan, which includes leadership support, acquisition, communication support, training and development, stakeholder involvement, process reviews and cultural issues (Porter, 2005). The paper integrates the strategic planning with change management and concludes with recommendations for improving the strategic planning for Dell.

Discussion

Dell was an unstoppable force in the PC industry from 1997 to 2004 and consistently won large market shares even if the industry had problems. The customer complaints about the service should be taken seriously and the responses should be continuously reviewed to solve technical problems. Dell is considered a world-class innovator and a pioneer in mass production of customized products, their routine methods are studied in business schools worldwide. Most rival producers gave up on trying to produce their own PC as cheap as Dell and switched to outsourcing for the manufacture of their PCs (Qureshi & Muffich, 2004). Dell's strategy of making the move means that the company has no inventory of finished goods and that, unlike competitors that use the traditional model of value chain, does not have to wait for the dealers empty their own inventories before to put new models on the market, retailers tend to operate with an inventory of 30 to 60 days of pre-built models.

Implementation of Strategic Plan

In the process of implementing the strategy, each level of management solves its specific tasks and exercise the functions assigned to him. A crucial role is played by senior management. The work of senior of top managemant is the implementation of the strategy and ensuring that everything is as planned. Another important aspect is that strategy is based on very clear points that are achieved from the initial implemetation of strategic plans; however, ensuring that the strategies on paper are put into practical organizational processes is important (Lipton, 2007).

The environment in which Dell is developing and which has been very successful in 2009 is now very different and every moment is an opportunity to rethink the goals and plans to continue to stay in a position of leadership and continued growth.

Individual

Inorder to innovate and establish itself as the key partner in the enterprise IT, Dell would have to allign its employees with the mission and vission of the organization.
