Author's Background, Qualifications and Potential Biases

Larry J. Siegel was born in 1947 in Bronx. He was fascinated in his childhood by the effects of the social strengths that were affecting the human attitude and actions. In 1960 he attended the City College of New York and became interested in the studies of justice and crime which were edified by the sociologist Charles Winick. Due to his interest he attended the School of Criminal Justice at a university of New York and completed his masters in 1970. His master's thesis was a study of attorneys in the juvenile court process. He completed his Ph.D. in 1975 studying the measures of effects the juvenile court process has on the image of youth.

Dr. Larry J. Siegel started his teaching career in 1971 in Boston at the Northeastern University and taught the courses on justice of juvenile, research statistics and methods. He is currently a professor at the University of Massachusetts. He has written comprehensively in the field of justice and crime, which includes a lot of books on the topics of criminology, juvenile law, criminal procedure, delinquency and much more. Dr. Siegel is a certified expert of court on the conducts of police and has give evidence in various legal cases.

Brandon C. Welsh was born in Canada and has done his undergraduate and M.A. from the University of Ottawa and has done Ph.D. in England from the Cambridge University. He is an Associate Professor at Northeastern University in the College of Criminal Justice. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at Free University in Amsterdam at the Netherlands Institute for the Study of Crime and Law Enforcement. Dr. Welsh research interests are on the topics of preclusion of crime and delinquency and evidence based policy of crime. Dr. Welsh is an editor or author of seven books and has published broadly in the respective areas.
