Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of “Labor unions” in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on the “significant role of labor union” for the benefits of labor, and its relation with “organizations”. The research also analyzes many aspects of “Labor unions” and tries to gauge its effect on “behavior of labor”. Finally the research describes various organizational and governmental factors which are responsible for creating “Labor unions” and tries to describe the overall effect of “labor” on “Organization”.

Introduction

A Union Association of people whose aim is to defend the rights and the social, economic and professional interests of its members. It is an association of people whose aim is to defend the rights and the social, economic and professional interests of its members. In U.S. , unions distinguished from political parties, although links may exist between them, because their aim is not to govern but to improve working conditions. Unions ensure the protection of employees' interests, at national and enterprise level. They provide an important communications role within the company by sending employees the information they have obtained in the councils. In case of conflict with the employer, unions can engage in protest actions (strikes, demonstrations, petitions etc) (Levitt and Conrow, 2000).

Unions are also agents for social dialogue Social dialogue includes all types of negotiation, consultation and exchange of information between representatives of governments, employers and workers on issues of common interest relating to economic policy and social between government, employers and employees. Indeed, unions recognized as representative in their industry may sign with the government or the employers of the collective agreements governing working conditions for all employees. (Cornfield, 2004)

Unions organized as follows:

Headed by a person, often called the Secretary General, elected by the bodies of the union.

At the national level, legislative bodies are responsible for setting the broad guidelines of the union to assist the Secretary General.

Local federations exist (county or regional).

The local union, in this business, is the basic unit of the union.

Argument in favor of Labor union

The argument that is being used against the rights of public unions is that reduction in benefits and bargaining rights is necessary in order to balance states budgets. It is true that the issues most often talked about when it comes to labor and labor unions are available and appropriate jobs and decent, living wages. People who have to work for a living should have access to a job that is appropriate for training and experience. They should be paid wages or a salary that enables them to care for themselves and their family. This necessarily implies a guaranteed minimum wage.
