The core aim of this paper is to explore one of the areas of organizational behavior. So, this paper discusses the phenomenon of leadership. The purpose of this paper is to select an organization and then talk about an individual who is part of that organization and can be recognized as a leader. For the purpose of this assignment the organization that is selected is Apple. So, first and foremost, the paper discusses about the Apple. When we talk about the leadership and Apple then the name of Steve Job is a world renowned name. After giving description about Apple the paper aims to talk about Steve Jobs and his leadership style.
Overview of the Organization
It was in the beginning of 1976 and Woz and Jobs considered the idea of starting a business: Woz sold his HP-65 calculator and Jobs his VW bus. The original logo was unimaginative Apple showing someone under an apple tree, but the company went with the apple, a tribute to Alan Turing, one of the great gurus of Artificial Intelligence, who committed suicide by biting a poisoned apple with cyanide. In 1976 the company was established in the garage of Jobs. The first machine "Apple I" (the features were limited by the lack of money available to Woz and Jobs) sold for $ 666.66 and they sold 175 units. In mid-1976 Woz was working on a computer with technical improvements. The proposal was "Apple II", features:-pound belt, keyboard, more elegant design, and video memory to manage color display, expansion cards so that users can extend the capabilities of the computer. The final model Apple II was introduced in April 1977, Apple changed its logo (someone under the apple tree) by the famous colored apple logo (apple-history.com).
The Macintosh was introduced on 24 January 1984. The initial sales forecasts half a million units sold by year-end look like they could be met during the first months of 1984, but gradually slowing sales were.
