Introduction

Transvestism and Cross dressing are the two terms which are highly related and of growing concern of modern times. Both the expressions are becoming fashionable in the modern societies, but such concept has its foundations from centuries. In recent times, the trend has taken a new form. Most of the people from modern societies tend to change their appearance to opposite sex just to kill the time and enjoy it as leisure. My reflective study will be considering the same issue (Jacobo, 1998, pp. 2-8). Transvestism or Cross-dressing can really be adopted for leisure or both the terms are individual's psychological mind set. Transvestism and Cross dressing is a myth or a fact? The answer to above mentioned questions may provide an argument why individual's (men or women) opt for cross-dressing and how does it has its impact on the society.

Transvestites are people who have an extreme need to dress up in clothes of the opposite sex. For transvestite the most important thing is that they want to be a different person for a while, turn into a person of the opposite sex and identity.  Such people have a gender identity disorder, but not as strong as transsexuals. They do not need to change sex to feel good. It is enough for them that they dress up in opposite sex and become by the opposite person for some time. They feel as different person with a different identity and characteristics. Both sides of transvestite personality emphasize both male and female and have their names and history.  Such individuals have a lot of characteristics of both sexes, which is not for them to change sex. They feel good in their body, but to satisfy their psychological needs are changing externally for some time in an individual of the opposite sex (Richard, 2005, pp. 1-13). The gender identity disorder does not cause such serious mental health problems, like transsexuals. Cross-dressing problems "heal" Dress Up and becoming at the time the other person. They do not need permanent changes, because their bodies are not entirely inconsistent with their sexual nature.

Men dress up for various reasons. May be they do not dress up to shock, or to be charming or sexy. It can also be possible that they do not dress up in order to be attractive to men (or women). They may also not do it for any of the reasons, in addition to unwind. Cross-dressing allows them to step outside of him/ her. Men of the twentieth century are under terrible pressure, courageous and successful (Harry Benjamin, 1996, pp. 2-135). It is no coincidence that cross-dressing particularly popular with men who are workaholics or engaged in exclusively male activity (such as military service or the police). But still then, most of the male who are successful in their professions tend to cross-dress themselves for the sake of their self satisfaction and internal pleasure.
