1. Elements of Literature: Suspense and Conflict are two of the five elements of literature that make up a story. Suspense adds the feeling the fears of what will happen next. Conflict makes a question interesting by making the reader ask questions like "why or who." Conflict can bring disruption and a turn to a story. Conflict can create suspense in a story when it challenges the reader to guess what might happen as a result of the conflict. These are two of the most important elements of literature because they bring life to the story. Irony is the contrast between what is expected or what appears to be and what actually is. The contrast between what is said and what is actually meant (Holman, 1992).

2. APA Guidelines: The APA Webster identifies the purpose of their documented writing style as "rules or guidelines that a publisher observes to ensure clear and consistent representation of written material" (para.2, "Editorial Style", 2003). By establishing these writing guidelines, the APA can ensure that those groups who follow the APA writing style will achieve a level of standardization in writing. Not only does the APA style of writing outline consistency, but the University of Wisconsin - Madison (2004) makes reference that the APA style creates an organized manner in which the original source can be acknowledged for their work and conclusions (para.1, "APA Style").

3. Language Style and Tools: A language is the written and spoken methods of combining words to create meaning used by a particular group of people. ”Our need of expression comes from within ourselves. It is what we are and what we have become. It is the release, the response to our external environment. We are always changed through internal or external means and such change comes through language. Being able to effectively convey and communicate ideas is a great tool for understanding. It can also be a tool for implementing doctrine and separation. To better comprehend everything that is our internal individual self and our external society requires us to have words for attributing meaning and understanding. To truly comprehend our environment through our arsenal of language requires it to be vast and rich in words to use (Learning about APA style, N.D.).

4. Language in Literature: Because all literature is created with words, the medium of literature is language. Not all combinations of words, however, result in literature. Literary combinations are differentiated from the enormous mass of casual discourse by some filtering device or set of rules. These words then pass into the permanent stock of preserved sounds or texts, forming the literary tradition of the group that produced them. One must therefore question what makes one group of words literature and another group not literature, and what the precise connection between language and literature is. This article addresses these questions.
