Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was one of the greatest leaders in the world. Mahatma Gandhi was a charismatic leader and since the day of his consciousness Gandhi possessed the skills of a true leader. He carried one of the finest leadership traits a person can achieve. There is a discussion about his leadership style, approaches, traits and attributes. He preached the Hindus with the message of honest, peace and harmony. His arrival back from South Africa changed not only his life, but also for the millions of Indians. Mahatma Gandhi was the father of the Indian nation. His full name was Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi was one of the greatest and finest leaders of the twentieth century. His leadership skills and style are not only an inspiration for the people of India, but also for people all over the globe. His leadership philosophies are followed as a trend and an ideal approach to lead a successful life. He has the prestige to be considered as a master strategist, ideal leader and a person whose ideologies and tactics can strengthen the corporate face of India (Marques, 2007).

Mahatma Gandhi - The Background

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 1869, at Porbandar Kathiawar Agency, British Indian Empire. By birth, Mahatma Gandhi belonged to Vaishya, a trading caste by nature. The caste comes from a traditional grocers and moneylenders background. Even the name Gandhi means 'merchant'. The Vaishya have a rich heritage in playing a vital role for not only trade and commerce, but also for the Indian affairs. Mahatma Gandhi's father passed away when he was just 15 years old. His mother played the influencer role for the rest of his upbringing and grooming. Mahatma Gandhi's mother believed in the perception of non violence and vegetarianism. At the age of 13, Mahatma Gandhi was married to a 14 year old lady 'Kasturba', and they had four children; Manilal, Ramdas, Harilal, and Devdas.
