Introduction

Drugs are a major force of influence in our country today. The problem was so out of control that many options are being considered for control or even solve it. Ending the war against drugs seems to be impossible. The war on drugs seems to be the fulfillment of many, but this is not true. Various options should be considered. Many people believe that consumption of a drug leads an individual to the consumption of other illegal drugs. With this regard name of marijuana is on top. The aim and objective of this paper is also to talk about marijuana from variegated perspectives.

About Marijuana

Merriam-Webster dictionary defines Marijuana as the dried leaves and flowering tops of the pistillate hemp plant that yield THC and are smoked in cigarettes for their intoxicating effect. The definition could be misleading because of the word “intoxicating” but not everything that is intoxicating means it is bad, painkillers for example. Marijuana constitutes of dried parts of a plant known as cannabis sativa, and it is an illegal drug with the most frequent intake. In ancient times, this drug was mainly an instrument and a substance for attaining a joy of sheer ecstasy. The plant is also known as hemp which is the most strong and resilient fiber reserve and source. History hints its existence since 2737B.C, also that it originated from china and almost travelled half the globe before it finally reached Europe around 500 A.D, after passing from India and North Africa, and was eventually introduced in America in 1611 in James town, North America as a fiber plant. Marijuana addicts tend to focus on the drug usage whenever it is possible for them. Consumers of marijuana drugs usually suffer from an uncontrollable desire to take drugs, psychological fixation about drugs, as well as the further use of drugs, regardless of the physical, emotional, psychological and social consequences connected to it.

Usage of Marijuana and the Use of Other Drugs

In the United States and in several other western societies, there has been an irregular and progressive sequence in drug use. The alcohol and snuff, precedes the use of marijuana, which in turn precedes the use of other illegal drugs. This regularity in the behavior has been designated as gateway and comprises three interrelated propositions: sequencing, association of initiation, and causality.

Sequencing involves a fixed duration in between two substances or a pattern of the usage of one drug prior to the usage of the other drug. Association refers to the use of a substance increases the likelihood of the consumption of the second. Causality factor implies that the use of the first substance causes consumption of the latter. The latter concept is the more controversial.
