Executive Summary

The core purpose for this paper is to examine the policies and strategies adopted by McDonald's Corporation that has been the cause of their success around the world. The responsibilities of the Corporation in different fields, their operations that are being performed globally, there positive and negative factors along with opportunities availed and obstacles faced are also discussed in this paper. In order to get the desired information, the annual reports of McDonald's Corporation have been reviewed and interview is also conducted with the personals that have sound knowledge regarding the corporations various aspects. Upon the completion of this paper, it is found that the company has been effectively and efficiently utilizing their available resources that have been the source of their rapid growth not only nationally but more significantly in the foreign countries. The company now should only focus on maintaining their current progress before having any other expansion that may result in affecting their already running business operations that might affect negatively on the company's progress and may damage its reputation that will provide opportunity to the respective competitors to increase their market share.

Introduction

The reason for writing this paper is to highlight those aspects of McDonalds Corporation that have been contributing effectively and efficiently in the growing goodwill of the organization that is not limited to its home country but is also growing with an intensifying rate around the world. McDonald's Corporation is an international company that is centralized and it competes well in the industry of the fast food by providing quality French fires, hamburgers and other consumable products that are made through a standard procedure. The corporation is engaged in the branding and expansion that has resulted in operating in more than 120 countries and having over 30,000 franchises and restaurants around the globe.

This paper will also gaze upon the obstacles that have been overcome by the corporation and have been successfully progressing. This paper will also look upon the marketing and financing policies followed by McDonalds Corporation including the legal, social and ethical responsibilities that has been taken into consideration by the corporation. At the end, we will also look at the strategies adopted (if any) by the corporation for any global change or any change according to the customer preference that has led the corporation dominant the market.

McDonald's corporation also has made expansion in the foreign countries through three primary techniques that are joint ventures, franchising and company owned restaurants. Franchising has been continuing in contributing to the success of the corporation with a minimal risk and having maximum gains.

For controlling the overseas operations by McDonald's Corporation, they have been using two different approaches. One is the rule approach which means that headquarter formulates policies and procedures for their subsidiaries to follow them while the other is cultural approach that enables the corporation to run their business operations by considering the cultural background of their host country.
