Introduction

Medical Technologist Laboratory, which is also called clinical laboratory technologist, assists physicians, performing complex medical tests. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the need for clinical laboratory workers is expected to grow 14 percent from 2008 to 2018 because of the new technologies of medical tests. Medical Technologist Laboratory is one who plays a vital role in detecting, diagnosing and treating diseases. The technologist may specialize in the field of medicine, and technology (Young & Paterson, 2007). Technologist labels blood bank collects and prepares blood and its components, such as plasma for transfusion. Cytotechnologist prepares and examines slides of body cells that may indicate the occurrence of cancer.

Technologist collects and analyzes body fluids such as urine, cerebrospinal fluid and blood and cells. She looks at the patterns for information, such as microorganisms, matches, blood transfusion and drug levels. Medical Technologist Laboratory shows the test results to doctors who use them to diagnose patients or their treatment schedules progression. She trains, instructs and supervises medical laboratory technicians (White & Harbaugh, 2010). Medical Technologist Laboratory establishes, operates and maintains equipment such as calorimeters, or computer-controlled analyzers. Education and Qualification

For entry-level position, the technologist should be at least a bachelor's degree in medical technology, life sciences or a related field. Typically, universities and hospitals offer medical programs and technologies. Coursework in medical technology include classes in biology, statistics, chemistry, computer programs and management. Medical laboratory technologist must obtain state licensing to work (American Association for Clinical Chemistry, 1995). Typically, the engineer must have a four year degree and pass an examination before receiving a license. In addition, employers prefer, according to the BLS, to hire a medical technologist laboratory that is certified by a professional association.
