Introduction

The success of any company depends upon the way the company processes its business operations and the way the jobs are performed in the company. The effectiveness of business processes greatly depends upon the jobs that are done within the organization. In today's fast pace of competition, the operational challenges have been increased and the companies have become more conscious regarding the job performances within their business operations.

The job study and the job requirement analysis have its great importance. It is very essential for the human resources department to make the detailed analysis of the jobs that are required by different units of the organization. In order to achieve the competitive advantage among the competitors, the companies are not only required to produce the products and services that are distinctive with that of the competitors, however, the companies are required to also maintain the costs that are occurred to the companies as to achieve the higher level of profit margins. The job description has an important role in the job performance. If the job description is designed looking at all the aspects in balanced manner, it definitely assists the company in attaining its goals and reduces the costs of the company. It has been found that in many small and medium sized organizations, there are a lot of employees who perform their very little part in achieving the organizational goals and objectives. In such organizations, the salary expenses are high as compared to the achieved goals and targets (Tapomoy D., 2006).

In this case study it has shown that the ABC Healthcare Company that is formed one year ago as a result of a merger between two health care companies the Arthritis Company, Inc., and the Famous Healthcare Company has understand the importance of job structure. The company is trying to manage the costs by developing the effective job descriptions so that the company can achieve the greater level of profit margins. The job design and job description has ultimate impact upon the overall company's performances. In the later section, it will be explained in detail that how an effective job study can be conducted before developing the formal job descriptions and job specifications of the required jobs. There are various essential factors that are required to be considered while going through the development and designing of job description and specifications. Such factors will also be discussed in detail in the later section.
