Introduction

The topic is about motivation and change. It includes the selection, comparing and contrasting of two motivational theories. It also includes the difference of objectives of these theories. Further, it includes the techniques for applying these theories and my own selection of a theory for my organization. For past few years, motivation plays a pivotal role in the performance and success of employees. There are a number of theories and practices of motivation available for organizations. These motivational practices help organizations to motivate employees and implement change. Sometimes, managers do implement theories of motivation but, it does not affect the employee's performance. This happens because of several reasons. One reason is the value of different theories is perceived as different by all employees. Employees working part time or in different timings are sometimes hard to motivate. If there is no motivation, change would be difficult.

Theories of Motivation

The things that make employees perform successfully while achieving goals is motivation. There are certain conditions that are needed to be provided by the organizations to the employees in order to motivate them. There are theories that direct the organizations about how to motivate employees. Factors that result in motivation can be the fulfillment of basic needs, social or emotional needs or could be any. There are a number of motivational theories presented by different researchers. Following are the two theories that are part of this discussion.
