Introduction

All minorities in the United States obtain exceptional remedy from the government. However, American Indians are treated distinctly than any other few assembly and as Chief Justice John Marshall asserted 150 years before, "the connection between the United States and American Indian peoples is likely different any other connection in the world" (Meyer and Gloria 257-74). But what distinguishes American Indians from other heritage assemblies in the United States? Why do they obtain this exceptional treatment?
