Abstract

In this study we try to explore the concept of Native Americans Survival in a holistic context. The main focus of the research is on Native Americans Survival and its relation with education system. The research also analyzes many aspects of Native Americans Survival and tries to gauge its effect on education system design to destroy it. Finally the research describes various factors which are responsible for Native Americans Survival and tries to describe the overall effect of Native Americans Survival on education system.

Introduction

This paper analyzes the Native Americans survival through an education system designed to destroy it.

Native Americans or American Indians are unique, tragic and at the same time full of optimism. It is unique because the Indians were indigenous to the Americas and lived through all the stages of its settlement by Europeans, beginning with the first colonies in the 17th century and ending with the completion of the development of the western borders by the end of 19 century. It is tragic, because the conflict between Indians and whites is a repetition of the experience of other nations of the world, whose traditions have come into conflict with the expanding industrialized society. This story at the same time full of optimism, because the Native Americans, although they denied in the 19th century most of their ancestral lands, have survived, they have managed to establish themselves in their political and economic rights, they have preserved their national identity and culture despite the onslaught of modern civilization . In Wisconsin, Chippewa Indians children learn the language of their ancestors with the help of computers. One of the parents of the children said: "For them, it is important to learn the language of Ojibwa, to understand the spiritual aspects of our religion."

Today, Native Americans are full-fledged citizens of the United States who are proud of the fact that they are Americans. However, they are no less proud of their own cultural heritage and, as it may be difficult in today's world, trying to protect and preserve it.

Traces of this heritage can be found across America. Many of the names on the map of the United States - Massachusetts, Ohio, Michigan, Kansas, Idaho and others - all Indian words. The Indians taught the Europeans to grow crops such as corn, tomatoes, potatoes and tobacco. Canoes, snowshoes, and moccasins - all came up with the Indians. Articles American Indian crafts such as ceramics, silver jewelry, paintings, and woven rugs - are very much appreciated. (Anderson, 1988)

Approximately half of American Indians live in big cities and rural areas across the country. Others live in the Federal Reserve (it's about three hundred pieces of land, designed specifically for Indians). Territory of all reservations taken together is 52.4 million acres (21 million hectares) of land, or approximately 2.5 percent of all U.S. land. Much of the reserve is located to the west of the Mississippi River.
