Introduction

NBC Universal is a company of the mass media is engaged in the production and marketing of entertainment , news , and information products and services for global customer base. The company owns and operates television stations, several cable channels, and a group of local stations throughout the United States, as well as film producers, production companies for television, and theme parks.

NBC Universal was formed in May 2004 as a result of a merger between the National Broadcasting Company (NBC), owned by General Electric, and Vivendi Universal Entertainment, a subsidiary of Vivendi . Along with GE, the operator of Cable U.S. Comcast announced a purchase agreement for the company's December 3 of 2009 . After regulatory approvals, the transaction was completed on January 28th of 2011 . Comcast currently owns 51 percent of NBC Universal, while GE owns 49 percent (Cartwright and Cooper, 2000).

Originally, the logo of NBC Universal was a combination of NBC (which resembles a real turkey) and logo Universal Studios (which consists of a globe and text). The logo was redesigned in January 2011 to reflect Comcast's role as the new owner of the company. NBC Universal is headquartered in the Rockefeller Center in Midtown Manhattan in the City of New York . The company is one of two successors to the Music Corporation of America (MCA), the other being Vivendi through its subsidiary, Universal Music Group (Cartwright and Cooper, 1992).

The Comcast Corporation is the largest cable network operator [2] , according to AT & T's second-largest Internet service provider and after AT & T and Verizon Communications, the third largest phone company [4] in the USA . Comcast currently offers its services in 39 states and the District of Columbia on. Comcast is headquartered in Philadelphia (Pennsylvania , USA) in the Comcast Center (Andrade and Erik,2002).

On 28 June 1963, the American Cable Systems Inc., Ralph J. Roberts, Daniel Aaron and Julian A. Brodsky in Tupelo ( Mississippi founded). American Cable Systems Inc. took over the Community Antenna Television Services (CATV) from the Jerrold Electronics Company . Community Antenna Television Services was one of the few companies in the United States, the rural cable TV offering. In subsequent years, took over American Cable System, Inc. A number of other franchises in eastern Mississippi(Sudarsanam, 2003). With the acquisition of the Westmoreland American Cable cable system extended its catchment area system on the western Pennsylvania. For the construction of cable systems in the towns of Sarasota and Venice , both in Florida , in 1966, a joint venture was with the Philadelphia Bulletin was founded. In 1995, Comcast took over together with TCI (through its subsidiary Liberty Media) the remaining shares of Time Warner in selling channel QVC for 200 million U.S. dollars.
