Introduction

Alcohol is a substance that is gradually producing an addiction in the body. Alcohol is widely used in party and recreational activities for many college students, which gradually produce an addiction to them which in general causes decline in their academic and social performance. In our country, Alcohol usage is a major public health problem and today it has become major problem for various college campuses. Schools, colleges and universities offer young people the knowledge and skills they need to negotiate the transition to adulthood and follow the career path they have chosen. Schools, colleges and Universities are thus the principal place where young people try new attitudes and behaviors, some of which may be risk, which includes consumption alcohol and other drugs (Buelow, 10).

College students consume alcohol for various reasons for example teenagers are much concerned about their image in the society thus their desire to consume alcohol can be to fit in on campus. On the other hand some students pressurize other students to get into the drinking habit. Lack of parents and teacher's control on growing teenagers makes easy for them to consume alcohol in college campus. There are various negative effects of alcohol drinking on campus. This paper deals with alcohol drinking on campus, making an emphasis on its effects, especially on college students. Its purpose is to inform college students and other readers about what can happen when drinking on campus.

Thesis statement

Alcohol drinking on college campus greatly harms health, studies and relationships of college students that are strongly affecting our society and reputation of various college campuses.

Discussion

Today it is no secret that our country is widespread use of alcohol among young people. According to college administer researchers, staff, and administration and also by students, alcohol is the most misused substance on college campus. Examples of adverse effects of drinking alcohol on college campus are readily found in hospital and counseling records plus police records also show adverse effects caused by students on property damage. Through observation we analyzed that currently student starts drinking from the age of 12, having the strongest stage mainly between 14 to 18 years because of the influence of the media (Berkowitz, 21). Alcohol drinking on college campus has many physical, social and psychological effects that cause students to change their behavior. Alcoholism is complex and evolves over time. This is about the availability of the drink in the activities taking place and today college campuses have become the easiest place to get alcohol.
